Doug Crews & Mark Madsen

Both Doug and Mark represent the Missouri Press Association and, more importantly, serve as the eyes and ears of New Voices legislation in Jefferson City. Because we are a non-profit organization, we do not have funds for lobbyists. For the past five years, Doug and Mark have been selfless with their time, energy and information. They communicate the same day when anything breaks, changes or is asked. They have been the bridge for the MO New Voices team to Jeff City. they have helped secure sponsors, secure support and give guidance from conducting face-to-face communication with state reps and senators. In all honesty, I feel like I am bugging them more than anything. We are such a little thing in the big picture, but they respond like we are the New York Times. Without these two, we wouldn’t have advanced this legislation through the House the past four years and had it heard in the Senate Education Committee. They have already been working the beat and assisting in the 2020 NV efforts. Doug and Mark are incredible advocates for Missouri scholastic journalism
