2021 Video of the Year winners

The Missouri Journalism Education Association is pleased to announce the 2020-2021 Video of the Year winners.

These students submitted impressive pieces of work from this school year that were selected as the winners by a highly qualified judging team. This is a wonderful honor for all the students and the schools they represent and are indicative of the high quality of their publications programs.

The MJEA Individual Student awards were designed to honor the very best in student writing, photography, design and video storytelling in Missouri by selecting one winner in each category.

FEATURE VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Winner: Katie Schowe of Marquette High School has been named the winner of the Feature Video contest for their story “Senior shares her passion to be in the medical field.”

Finalists: Maya Culian and Riley Wania of Francis Howell Central High School has been named the runner-up of the Feature Video contest for their story “Teaching in a pandemic.”

SPORTS VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Winner: Joey Weaver of Lafayette High School has been named the winner of the Feature Video contest for their story “Fall sports return for 2020 season.”

Finalists: AnnaBella Peterson of Oak Park High School has been named the runner-up of the Feature Video contest for their story “Spartans win in their future home, alumnus inspires them.”

NEWS VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Winner: Joey Weaver and Jack Weaver of Lafayette High School has been named the winner of the Feature Video contest for their story “??Class of 2020 celebrated with special farewell parade.”

Finalists: Christine Stricker, Ellie Mueller and Alexis Baumgarten of Parkway Central High School has been named the runner-up of the Feature Video contest for their story “Parkway Central Parking Lot.”

SPECIAL PROJECT VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Winner: The Digital Media Staff of Lafayette High School has been named the winner of the Feature Video contest for their story “All is Well at Lafayette.”

Finalists: Ellie Mueller of Parkway Central High School has been named the runner-up of the Feature Video contest for their story “PCHTV for Feb. 25.”
