2020 Video of the Year winners

The Missouri Journalism Education Association is pleased to announce the 2019-2020 Video of the Year winners.

These students submitted impressive pieces of work from this school year that were selected as the winners by a highly-qualified judging team. This is a wonderful honor for all the students and the schools they represent and are indicative of the high quality of their publications programs.

The MJEA Individual Student awards were designed to honor the very best in student writing, photography, design and video storytelling in Missouri by selecting one winner in each category. 

 

FEATURE VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Macy Higgins

Winner: Macy Higgins of Kearney High School has been named the winner of the Feature Video contest for her story “Shooting for success.”

Finalists: The team of Jenna Frisella and Katie Leeker of Oakville High School have been named finalists for the Feature Video contest for their story “Adam Leeker.”

SPORTS VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Ciera Gallagher, Emily Schellhasse, Lily Singer

Winner: Ciera Gallagher, Emily Schellhasse and Lily Singer of Oakville High School have been named the winner of the Sports Video contest for their story “Gunner.”

Finalists: Alli Bishop of Lafayette High School has been named a finalist for the Sports Video contest for her story “Blackmon finds victory on varsity wrestling as a sophomore.”

Winner: Katie Schowe of Marquette High School has been named the winner of the News Video contest for her story “Center Stage Hosts 18th Annual Clinic.

Finalists: Maria Dolan of Ladue Horton Watkins High School has been named a finalist for the News Video contest for her story “A Better Belize.”

SPECIAL PROJECT VIDEO STORY OF THE YEAR WINNERS AND FINALISTS

Emma Oesterly, Raegan Clark

Winner: Emma Oesterly and Raegan Clark of Lee’s Summit High School have been named the winners of the Special Project Video contest for their story on the Tiger Broadcast

Finalists: Emily Hood of Francis Howell North has been named a finalist for the Special Project Video contest for her story “Francis Howell School District Sues Juul Labs.”
